Downloading/Installing Client

Visit the Client Mirrors page and download the game client. FULL if this is your first time installing or PATCH if you have an earlier version of GoldenEye: Source installed. After the GoldenEye: Source client is installed fully exit Steam then restart it. If you choose to manually install (ZIP) instead of using the installer (EXE) read the instructions at the bottom of the download mirror page.

Find Servers (Join)

Within the Steam client go to the Library tab then all games and open GoldenEye: Source

Click Find Servers and let the list refresh itself. Choose a server and play!

Game Modes and Maps

Warrior Nation has an useful, single page, Game Maps and Modes Summary. The most up to date list will always be the GES Wikis' Level and Game Modes pages. In the Find Server window the Game column describes the game mode and the Map column is what map is currently loaded. Many servers rotate maps automatically every few play rounds. If you don't find a game that appeals refresh in a few minutes or join a random server to see how you like it.

When in-game, if you are playing a game mode that is unfamiliar to you, open up your chat box (y) and type !help for a summary.

Dedicated Server

Laho-dedicated.jpg
A dedicated server means that you can host other players on your computer (home or remote) without having to actively run the GoldenEye: Source client. Visit the Steam About page again and download the HLDS Update Tool (windows linux). Go to the GoldenEye: Source Wiki Dedicated Server Install page for instructions on setting up your dedicated AtomicPR server. If you have trouble setting it up then read through and ask questions in the Questions, Help & How To's sub-forum.

Here is the summary of installing a dedicated server:

1. Install the HLDS update tool.
2. Update the HLDS update tool.
3. Use the tool to download the Orange Box files.
4. Install the GoldenEye: Source client files to the dedicated server directory.
5. Modify your server.cfg.
6. Create a batch file to start your server with.
